Challenge

M&C Saatchi World Services, on behalf of the International HIV and AIDS Alliance, wanted to create a digital product to help those afflicted with AIDS on the African continent.

Their aim was to help children better adhere to their anti-retroviral medication. They had never launched a digital product in Africa before, so understanding cultural nuance was key.

Adherence to medication is crucial in prolonging the lifespan of those with AIDS, so a digital product was needed that balanced effective design with an engaging user experience.

Execution

Design Sprint at Saatchi’s London office to map the user journey and app architecture.

Creation of a low-fidelity prototype for user testing in Mozambique and Swaziland.

Full design and development of the app and go-to-market strategy.

Results

  • Strong app engagement and retention rates, with user satisfaction very high.
  • Planned rollout to wider African continent.
  • Phase 2 product development, including an open world system incorporating other countries and players.
