Challenge

Fortem had an existing digital system they used to monitor the performance of their staff. However, one vital aspect of this performance was missing: referrals.

Without tracking the current referral rate, Fortem were missing out on a key performance indicator for their board reporting. They needed to build a new referral service that could fit within their legacy systems.

Finally, they wanted to be able to ‘white label’ and take this product to market, establishing a USP for their brand and drive real growth.

Execution

3 day Design Sprint at Fortem’s offices in Hitchin to align on the problems and prototype a
solution.

User testing with field operatives, iterating the product based on their feedback.

Using Microsoft Cognitive Services, we were able to build a mobile app that uses natural
language processing. So operatives could literally speak into our app and have the
sentiment assigned automatically for their referral.

Results

  • Field operatives now use this mobile app as their default way of referring any issue that
    they come across.
  • Backend system integration has been a success and we’re now devising a go-to-market
    strategy to commercialise the product.
